Weslye Saunders

A Gary, Indiana native, Saunders was considered a 4-star prospect and the 18th best TE in the nation by Scout.com and Rivals.com. He committed to the University of South Carolina, enjoying a stand-out college career.

His 6’6″, 273 lb frame proved to be a match-up nightmare for opponents, as he compiled 60 catched for 718 yards and 6 Touchdowns during his Gamecock career. He was also listed on the preseason Lombardi Watch List and a preseason 2nd team All-SEC pick.

Saunders signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers as an undrafted free agent in 2011, making the 53-man roster. His career got off to a fast start, scoring a touchdown on Sunday Night Football against the Kansas City Chiefs. Unfortunately, Saunders career was derailed by poor decisions that led to his suspension for 4 games as a Steeler, and then 8 games the following season by the Indianapolis Colts.

Now, at age 28, Saunders is in the best shape of his life and determined to prove to NFL scouts he belongs back on football’s greatest stage. He will join The Spring League for its 2018 season in Austin, TX.

Said Saunders: “In just three weeks, I am able to showcase my talent on an unbiased platform, learn from veteran coaches, and accumulate game film. After more than a year removed from football, I am able to recapture the attention of NFL teams and scouts at The Spring League.”
