From Pensacola, FL, Long dominated high school ball, setting school records with 3,227 rushing yards, 37 touchdowns, and 3,826 all-purpose yards. He committed to Wofford College to play collegiate football.
Long flourished for the Terriers, with his finest season coming during his senior year in 2016. He led the team and Southern Conference in rushing with 1,424 yards on 294 carries (a single season school record) and 18 touchdowns. He was named All-Southern Conference 1st-team by the coaches and media, and earned AP All-America 3rd team honors, and team MVP.
