From Kannapolis, North Carolina, Phillips rushed for over 2,500 yards en route to being named All-Conference. He committed to UNC-Charlotte for college ball. Phillips was simply outstanding for the 49ers during his 4-year career, ending with school records for rushing yards (4,020), touchdowns (43), rushing touchdowns (41) and 100-yard rushing games (15).
Phillips also claims the single-season school record for TDs (20, 2014), rushing TDs (20, 2014), rushing yards (1,436, 2014), rushing avg. (131.0, 2014) and rushing attempts (229, 2014). He owns the 49ers top 8 single-game rushing performances, including the school-record 204 at Old Dominion in 2015. In his career, he averaged 91.4 rushing yards per game and 5.5 per carry. He earned 2nd Team All-Conference USA in 2015 and Honorable Mention All-Conference USA in 2016.
Undrafted in 2017, Phillips latched on with the Green Bay Packers. Despite an impressive preseason, Phillips was one of the last cuts as the Packers trimmed to a 53-man roster. He was scooped up by the Carolina Panthers and earned a spot on their practice squad.
In 2018, the 5’10”, 220lbs running back will participate in The Spring League hoping to impress the NFL scouts in attendance.
